Vaighai began its Oils division in 1990 with a rice bran oil extraction plant to manufacture rice bran oil and de-oiled bran. Today, it is one of the largest rice bran oil extraction complexes in India, with three manufacturing plants at Madurai, Tirunelveli and Namakkal.

Today, Vaighai’s combined Rice Bran processing capacity stands at 3,20,000 TPA which is the largest oil extraction capacity in India.

The capacity of the Namakkal plant, which has state-of-the-art processing technology, is 400 TPD, making it the largest capacity for a single plant in South India.

Known for our consistency, quality and reliability, our products have found use in the edible oil industry, animal feed industry, pet care and animal nutrition industries. Vaighai holds 8% of market share in India in rice bran processing sector.

Vaighai Protein

Procurement of Rice Bran (raw material) is the most important area of an oil extraction plant. Vaighai has a separate SBU named Vaighai Protein in order to focus on this function.

This Strategic Business Unit was formed to explore the potential for Rice Bran in the Tamil Nadu market. This procurement wing has a wide network in areas like Madurai, Aruppukottai, Thalavaipuram, Rajapalayam, Tirunelveli, Sankarankovil, Theni, Dindigul and Ramnad. With an efficient workforce of 25 employees who cover 400 rice mills a day, the division directly procures nearly 50% of the rice bran requirement for the company during both the peak and the lean seasons.

Vaighai Lanka

One of the best initiatives of Vaighai is to create a Rice Bran procurement network at Sri Lanka. Vaighai Lanka Private Limited, the overseas division of Vaighai Agro Products Limited. Since 2004, Vaighai Lanka procures rice bran from over 300 rice mills located all over the Island. This procurement division at Sri Lanka gives Vaighai Agro a major edge over its competitors in terms of uninterrupted bran supply to its rice bran extraction units in India.

Vaighai Lanka has received the Gold Award in the Export of Agriculture Bulk Sector, Large Industry category during the NCE Exports Awards 2010.
